Outdoor Adventure Residentials for Schools

Newgale YMCA Outdoor Education Centre is the perfect choice for school residentials. Situated in one of the most popular destinations in Wales, we pride ourselves on being able to offer an incredible choice of adventurous activities in some stunning coastal locations. For example, climbing on craggs overlooking the Pembrokeshire coastline, surfing on some of the best beaches in Wales, Coasteering around some of the most incredible beaches and coves, and sea kayaking. Our professional staff offer an exceptional standard of instruction and as well teaching activities, our staff focus on achieving outcomes including: increased confidence, leadership skills & team building.

Understanding that some schools may also want to incorporate the curriculum into the residential, we are happy to work with schools to achieve their curriculum outcomes. Pembrokeshire is a fantastic destination for geography, history and even drama and has so much to offer all teachers and students wishing to learn and have fun outside the classroom.

Our centre is ideally suited to both primary and secondary school groups. A small and friendly centre, we cater for up to 36 people. The benefits of this mean that often schools can have the whole centre all to themselves at no extra charge! With lockable accommodation blocks, ensuite dorms, a games room, shop & campfire/bbq facilities we have a lot to offer schools who want a personal and friendly service in a peaceful countryside setting.

The benefits of youth group residentials

All of our Youth group residentials have been carefully designed to suit the needs of a wide range of youth groups and we work closely with youth workers & the group to ensure that everyone on the programme at Newgale YMCA achieves their desired outcomes. As well as offering a fun experience, our programmes will develop young people and will teach a range of skills including: working in a team, leadership, increased confidence, making positive & healthy choices.

There are so many benefits of outdoor education and encouraging young people to to particpate in a range of adventurous activities can really make a difference to their lives.

Incredibly, there are many young people in the UK who have never seen the sea, or had the opportunity to look at the sky and see it filled with stars… For many, coming to an Outdoor Education Centre in Wales and participating in sea based & other adventurous activities will be a completely new and exciting experience that will take them out of their comfort zone and push them to try something that may seem a little daunting to start with. The value of this is enormous and we believe passionately that all young people should get the chance to experience the outdoors so they can realise how wonderful it is and make the most of the world that they live in.

Make the difference - take your young people away on an adventurous residential for the experience of a lifetime!

Incorporating Outdoor Education into the school curriculum

We are offering local schools the opportunity to visit our centre for the day to do a range of outdoor activities. We will focus the day on participating in outdoor activities, team building & an introduction to making healthy choices.

Schools can also hire our fantastic high ropes & climbing wall facilities making use of our expert instructors, or if you prefer you can use your own  qualified staff (who will need to be signed off by Newgale YMCA)

If you are currently looking at ways of incorporating Outdoor Education into the curriculum, please call us and we would be happy to visit your school to discuss how we can work with you to support your school.

Reality Therapy Course At Newgale YMCA OEC

Reality Therapy 4 Day Basic Intensive Workshop

Reality Therapy is a cognitive-behavioural approach to therapy, counselling and problem solving, which focuses on the here-and-now and how we can plan for a better future, instead of concentrating at length on the past. In a caring, trusting environment clients discover what they really want and whether what they are currently doing (how they are choosing to behave) is actually bringing them nearer to, or further away from, that goal.

This is a valuable and internationally recognised technique already used widely within the higher level development centres accross the UK and Overseas.
