Have you ever imagined what it would be like to explore the coastline or the river from a completely different angle? Learning how to Canoe and Kayak could be a way of opening up a whole new world for you – as well as helping you develop your skills and confidence in the water. The BCU (British Canoe Union) Star Awards are nationally recognised canoe sport competency awards. The 1 and 2 Star are Introductory Awards that show the holder has the skills and knowledge to paddle safely in sheltered water environments (in both Canoe and Kayak).

Gaining these Awards would be a personal achievement – but it could also be a step up to developing an exciting new career in the outdoor industry.  BCU I Star and 2 Star Awards would give you a good grounding to attain the 3 Star Award.  The 3 Star Award gives you the personal competency level required for entry on to the Coaching Scheme which would enable you to work as a Canoe and Kayak Instructor.
