Launching our New Intensive Instructor Course

We are thrilled to be able to announce the launch of our cutting edge Intensive Professional Development Training Programme for individuals wishing to pursue an exciting career as an outdoor education instructor. This programme combines first class training in hard skills, such as Sea Kayaking and Climbing, and personal development training to give you the skills to work with young people in the outdoor education industry.

 

Launching Our New Development Programmes

Newgale YMCA are pleased to be able to launch of a new series of skill-based Development Programmes to engage young people and provide them with exciting learning opportunities outside the classroom.  These courses are suitable for youth groups and school groups – but they are also suitable for groups of adults (minimum of 3) looking to improve their skills in the outdoors.

The 2010 Newgale YMCA summer camp was a great success! 

Young people living, and on holiday, in Pembrokeshire were able to enjoy a wide range of activities, including coasteering, kayaking, canoeing, high ropes course, climbing, mountain biking and surfing.

Award of funding from PAVS

Newgale YMCA is delighted to announce that it has been awarded funding from the PAVS Pembrokeshire Impact Fund.

The funding has been used to install accessible doors, outdoor lighting and classroom equipment.  This vital equipment has enhanced Newgale YMCA's ability to provide stimulating outdoor education to young people in Pembrokeshire and beyond, including those who are disadvantaged through social, economic and emotional deprivation.

 

Students cut and clear way towards John Muir Award

Students from Ysgol Bro Gwaun and Milford Haven secondary schools had a day out of the classroom recently to learn new skills as part of achieving the Conserve challenge of the John Muir Award.

The students worked with staff from Newgale YMCA Outdoor Education Centre, as well as Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority rangers at Freshwater East in the south of the county and National Trust wardens on the Southwood Estate near Newgale.

Bushcraft Training Course

 

This two day course is designed for outdoor education professionals to enhance their existing skills and provide them with additional valuable skills in bushcraft, woodland living, wilderness survival and forest skills. The course will equip you with additional skills insuring professionalism, competency and a new depth of knowledge you will be able to convey to your students and clients.

Newgale YMCA OEC Sponsors Pembrokeshire Triathlon

A Journey of Discovery Training Event

Newgale YMCA and TYF are jointly hosting an environmental training event with a difference and would like you to have the opportunity to book a place on this unique day. The information is attached below regarding content and booking procedure.

The event is being subsidised by the Outdoor Charter Group which is making it really affordable and accessible to all so a massive thanks to Tom Luddington for organising that. It is being delivered by two very skilled and experienced practitioners from North Wales.  This is an event usually delivered through the Institute for Outdoor Learning at a considerably higher cost!!

 

Denise Marriott - Short listed as Unsung Hero

At last night’s VIP Pembrokeshire Tourism Celebration, Denise Marriott was short listed as a finalist for the Unsung Hero Award.
