NEWGALE EDUCATION AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

With the development of Newgale YMCA Outdoor Education Centre the National Charity has some clear objectives. We are here to provide a service to the intelligent buyer of programmes designed specifically to provide learning in the outdoors in a high quality and contemporary way. We willingly explore opportunities for working in partnership in the context of The Adonis Report to achieve long term successes in our work with young people.

Our courses can be tailored to meet the specific needs and objectives of your groups and your budget. We will provide specialist consultation to enable you to design programmes that fulfil your requirements as a learner or as a provider of learning. We will enable young people to make use of this service to design the courses that they want and to improve participation for those who may feel challenged by the thought of a residential or outdoor programme.

We will design programmes to meet the needs of Key Stages of the National Curriculum and also provide opportunities for assessment for GCSE PE in a number of outdoor sports.

We work within the context of the National Youth Service Strategy for Wales and the wider context of the DFES Manifesto for Education Outside the Classroom. We aim to provide courses that address the Youth Service Strategy in the areas of Active Participation, Wider Key Skills and Enhanced Emotional Competence. Our programmes by their very nature are Educative, Expressive, Participative and Empowering.

We believe that our commitment to working in partnership with providers of formal and informal learning, maintained or voluntary sector youth organisations and other institutions mean that we can provide programmes that are accessible to all without the expense and autocracy of larger providers. Whether the course is for Duke of Edinburgh Award Expedition Training or a programme focussed on Managing High Risk Behaviours we have the expertise to provide the residential course you need.

We are licensed by the Adventure Activity Licensing Authority to deliver activities at all levels in the outdoors and have links throughout the professional bodies that monitor safety and quality within outdoor learning.

Our senior staff team have over 30 years of contemporary outdoor education experience and knowledge. We have designed courses and long term programmes for small groups, large corporate sponsors, schools and youth groups, statutory bodies and led expeditions in different areas of the world. We are ideally equipped to take you to the place in outdoor education the modern world of education and youth work demands.

Of course our programmes don't stop with the onset of your 25th birthday. We can design programmes for teachers and youth workers on diverse subjects ranging from Understanding Risk in the Outdoors to Intermediate Food Hygiene and a range of Adult Adventure Programmes including National Governing Body Awards.
