Who We Are
YMCA Wales is part of the world wide YMCA movement, operating across the globe. As part of that movement we are also affiliated to the European Alliance of YMCA’s (EAY) and the World Alliance of YMCA’s (WAY). We are also part of an informal grouping known as the “4 Nation”; England , Ireland , Scotland and Wales. The YMCA movement in Wales is currently made up of 29 autonomous bodies. Newgale YMCA Outdoor Education Centre is one of these members. Diversity of member associations is remarkable in many terms such as size of staff team or entirely supported by volunteers, location – both urban and rural, variety of services provided and sources of funding.
The YMCA works with children and young people throughout Wales to provide non formal educational and personal development opportunities. We believe children and young people have a right to be heard and will encourage their participation and empowerment at all levels of our work. All the local associations deliver a full programme of activities including sports activities, cyber cafe, personal development training, information and advice ....plus much more!
THE YMCA WANTS EVERY PERSON TO FEEL THIS SENSE OF:
VALUE AND PURPOSE
enjoying a growing self-esteem and confidence
BELONGING AND TRUST
with a sense of a future
GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
positive relationships with family, friends, and the wider community
28 YMCAs across Wales seek to develop these qualities in young people through a wide range of programmes, services and activities that respond to their needs and give them opportunities for positive development in the key areas of their lives.
A common thread runs through all of the YMCA's work: a commitment to promote positive personal growth and build healthy communities - life in all its fullness, and fullness of life for all.
